Gender stereotyping has affected research in reproductive health. In
general, since reproduction has been viewed as women's domain,
male reproductive health related to occupational exposures has
been neglected (Wang, 2000; Varga, 2001). However, many chemicals,
ionizing radiation, toxic contamination, high temperatures and
possibly sedentary work have been identified as hazardous to the male
reproductive system (Figá-Talamanca, 1998; Bonde and Storgaard,
2002).
