programmes. The prerequisites for conducting gendered occupational
health research are the collection of sex-disaggregated data by
individual research projects or through larger data systems (without
appropriate sex-disaggregated data it is difficult even to begin a
gendered analysis), attention to the possibility that data may reflect
systematic gender biases (e.g. in access to occupational health services)
and the use of methodologies that are sensitive enough to capture
adequately gender dimensions (e.g. questioning methodologies, how
we classify men and women into different socioeconomic categories).
