Setting Up for Your Environment
Hardware Requirements
To run a mixed-signal simulation, you must have adequate hardware to run all the constituent
tools. Cadence recommends that you have a minimum of 96 MB of RAM, 200 MB of swap
space, and 100 MB of free disk space.
Setting the CDS_Netlisting_Mode Variable
This variable is required for netlisting in mixed-signal simulation. CDS_Netlisting_Mode must
be set to Analog. For example, if you are using C shell, you need to set it as:
setenv CDS_Netlisting_Mode Analog
Setting Up Verilog-XL
Starting with the IC 4.4.5 release, Digitial Logic Design and Verification (LDV) tools, such as
Verilog-XL, now ship on a separate CD from the analog/mixed-signal custom integrated
circuit (CIC) tools. This means that you need to maintain two installation hierarchies, one for
CIC tools and another for LDV tools. Environment variables need to be set with these
installation hierarchies. The following sections give details on setting environment variables.
Setting the UNIX PATH Variable
Mixed-signal simulation uses tools from both CIC and LDV releases. Therefore, for running
mixed-signal simulation, your unix PATH variable must be set to include paths from both
releases.
