Non-Detailed Mode
In non-detailed mode with FNL, the IE generator expands mixed cellviews but does not
expand digital cellviews containing internal hierarchy. Terminals of digital instances that
reside inside a digital-only parent cellview do not generate any IEs. The IE generator creates
IEs for only digital instance terminals that do not reside within a digital-only parent cellview.
Although many digital instance terminals can be connected to an interface net, they are
modeled by only one IE at the interface net. The IE generator selects the most appropriate IE
from all interface elements for that interface net, based on the connecting digital instance
terminals. No interface split nets are created in non-detailed mode.
If you have multiple digital instances connected at a net, the netlist partitioner inserts only one
interface element per interface net, as shown in the following figure.
Detailed Mode
In detailed mode with FNL, the IE generator expands all digital cellviews containing internal
hierarchy. A terminal of a primitive digital instance connected to an interface net generates
one IE.
