Identify and Select Appropriate Networks - Section 1
Types of networks
Most of us have networks other than just our personal network of family and
friends. These networks are made up of many people and groups. Each person in
the network ties you into another network. This ties your network into countless
other networks. It has been estimated that adults know about 500 - 1,000 people
on a social basis. If you multiply each of those 1,500 persons by the 500 - 1,000
who they know, the numbers become enormous.
(Raye-Johnson, p 25)
Example
Chelsie's extended network map shows she is an active sportsperson and on
weekends plays netball in summer and soccer in winter. She works casually at the
local supermarket on night fill and volunteers with the Save the Wildlife
Foundation and volunteer firefighters.
Here is her extended network map.
