Make Effective Use of Relevant Networks - Section 2

Skills required for effective networking
When volunteering you may need to identify the skills and abilities that you have
that can contribute to the organisation's networking requirements. Often our
personality type can determine how easy or difficult it is to network.
Extraverts are described as people who tend to focus on the outside world and
will probably appear to be more active, relaxed, enthusiastic, spontaneous and to
look for variety in their tasks. They might also describe themselves as a `people
person'.
Introverts will probably appear to be more reserved, quiet and passive and
perhaps like to do one task at a time. They might describe themselves as a person
who likes one on one conversation.
Learning activity Personality type
Think about your personality and abilities as you read the following table. With a
highlighter pen record your response. It is likely that you will find that rather
than being one or the other, you are a little of both, depending on the situation or
circumstance and how well you know the people you interact with.
