Go Wireless with UABWiFi! - contd.
You are now ready to surf wirelessly! The very last step is authentication, and it involves your browser.
Open your browser. It should take you directly to the UABWiFi authentication page, shown below.
Authentication Instructions
Enter your BlazerID and password. After you
use your BlazerID to log in, you should see your
default home page.
Congratulations! Happy surfing!
Note: It takes up to 2 minutes for your laptop to
acquire UABWiFi - if you've waited longer than
three minutes, try rebooting.
Some wireless safety tips
Wireless networks are by their nature open. There are some steps you can take to ensure that
your computer and data remain private and secure:
Install firewall and anti-virus software, and make sure they are enabled
Disable file sharing. On the Start menu, select Settings and then Network Connections.
Find your wireless connection and right-click to select Properties. Under the General tab, un-
check File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks.
People can eavesdrop on wireless! Wireless is not a secure connection - don't go to any
sites that request credit card information or other sensitive data - eavesdroppers can pick that
up.
