Moving Forward
The Mobility Plan is intended to provide a statewide transportation direction, both for
how PennDOT conducts its activities and for how each of us--individuals, businesses,
and other entities--can help shape Pennsylvania's transportation system. This is
a plan for all of Pennsylvania, and PennDOT recognizes that it cannot implement
the Mobility Plan on its own. To be truly a successful endeavor, implementation
requires the engagement and assistance of each of the planning partners identified
in this document. To this end, this User's Guide attempts to actively identify intended
linkages between the state's long-range transportation plan and other transportation-
related activities within Pennsylvania.
Those linkages are identified here, but not entirely elaborated upon. With the adoption
of the Mobility Plan, PennDOT will continue to work with its transportation partners
to better define these interrelationships and associated activities. It is PennDOT's
sincere hope that its partners will share in promoting the Mobility Plan's vision for
Pennsylvania and actively work with the Department to further strengthen these
linkages. In addition, PennDOT invites partners to share their insights as to how
PennDOT can best support their strategic and long-range planning activities.
The User's Guide is intended to be an actively used and living document. As new
processes and procedures evolve, it is PennDOT's expectation that this guide will
be updated to reflect changing conditions and priorities. PennDOT welcomes all
suggestions for improving the linkages described here, and invites partners to
contact the PennDOT Program Center at 717-77-22 to share suggestions or ask
questions.
PennDOT's aim is to team with its transportation partners to advance the vision
of providing "the best performing transportation system for people, business, and
places."
